A Determination To Climb

If I knew I had a goal and that I wanted to succeed in accomplishing that goal, I wouldn’t let anyone intervene with my decision. I’ve learned that people can never tell you what you can’t do; it’s whether or not you accept their underestimated view of you that determines where you would stand. Yes, it hurts to know that you can’t reach out for a hand and expect someone to grab it, for the past result was just a further push downward. It hurts to know that there aren’t supporting hands beneath you; if you fall, you fail. But in the midst of this all, there is something that keeps you to continue to move forward: Determination. When someone is truly determined about something, than no thing nor person will be able to move them from that decision. I know that if I was in the shoes of one of these inventors - especially knowing how skin color determined how society would accept me - one of the only things that would keep me going is my determination to succeed in doing two things: One – to prove society wrong, to teach them to not underestimate a determined soul Two – to prove to myself that if I put my mind to something, I can do it, no matter how unclear the path of success may seem.
