Each month, an author shares his or her thoughts about reading and the ClassroomsCare mission—to share the joy of books with America’s neediest children. These author messages for your students are a great way to inspire them to read and get involved.
Jan Brett is the author and illustrator of 26 well-loved titles with more than 30 million books in print! Jan lives in Massachusetts close to where she grew up. She decided to be an illustrator when she was a child and spent many hours reading and drawing. Travel is a constant inspiration for her books. She visits many different countries where she researches the customs, architecture, and costumes that appear in her work, including The Mitten, The Hat, The Umbrella, On Noah’s Ark, Honey…Honey…Lion!, Daisy Comes Home, Town Mouse Country Mouse, The Night Before Christmas, Hedgie’s Surprise, Armadillo Rodeo, Gingerbread Baby, The Owl and the Pussycat, Christmas Trolls, and new this fall, Hedgie Blasts Off!
