Each month, an author shares his or her thoughts about reading and the ClassroomsCare mission—to share the joy of books with America’s neediest children. These author messages for your students are a great way to inspire them to read and get involved.
Ann M. Martin is the author of many books for young readers, including The Baby-Sitters Club and several spin-off series. She is also the author of such distinguished individual titles as the Newbery Honor book A Corner of the Universe. Ann lives in upstate New York with three cats—Gussie, Woody, and Willie—and her dog, Sadie. When she isn't writing, she is very likely taking care of stray animals or creating children's clothing. Her other books include A Dog's Life, Here Today, Belle Teal, and The Doll People.

A Special Message from Ann M. Martin

Books are powerful. With a book I can travel to other times or faraway places. I can live in other centuries or on other planets. When I read I feel connected to the universe.
