Each month, an author shares his or her thoughts about reading and the ClassroomsCare mission—to share the joy of books with America’s neediest children. These author messages for your students are a great way to inspire them to read and get involved.
Jerry Spinelli is the Newbery Award-winning author of 25 books. Maniac Magee, Wringer, Stargirl, Knots in my Yo-Yo String, Crash, The Library Card, and Loser are just a few of the celebrated titles that are included under his name. But success took time for Jerry. He wrote four novels over 15 years before seeing his first one published. In that time, he also married and raised six kids. He is now Grandpa to 16 grandchildren! His most recent book is Milkweed.
