Join Jack Prelutsky's Poetry Party!Jack Prelutsky Poetry Party Contest
The first Children’s Poet Laureate Jack Prelutsky, is the author of It’s Raining Pigs & Noodles, A Pizza the Size of the Sun, Zoo Doings, and many more great books of poetry for kids. He’s written a poem starter for Scholastic Book Clubs. To celebrate poetry month, have your students begin with Jack’s line and see where it takes them.
 
The best poem will win the Grand Prize and the poet will receive two libraries of poetry—one for home and one for the class. In addition, the Grand Prize winner will get a signed copy of A Pizza the Size of the Sun, a class set of poetry writing kits, and a Pizza Party for the class!

Dear Ruby Bridges Letter Writing ContestDear Ruby Bridges Letter Writing Contest
Ruby Bridges has devoted her life to fighting racism, beginning at six years old when she integrated a New Orleans public school all by herself! How does racism make your students feel? Ask them to tell Ruby!

Have your students in grades 4-6 write a letter to Ruby Bridges expressing their feelings about racism. Twenty-five winners will receive a Diversity Classroom Library, a signed copy of Ruby’s book, Through My Eyes, and a personalized stationery set. Your students’ letters could be published in a new book by Ruby Bridges, Through Their Eyes. Finalists will be judged by Ruby Bridges, based on quality of writing and sincerity.
