Elaphrosaurus
by: Steven L., Grade: 6+

Elaphrosaurus awoke. Something was itching his leg. He rolled over onto that side. It was gone. He got up and started walking. He needed to find food. He hadn't eaten for days. Stepping through ferns and moss, he searched for his prey. He smelled water. He walked toward it. The forest ended. Elaphrosaurus stopped. A herd of diplodacus to big to bother with. A chirrup resounded from the woods. Elaphrosaurus screeched back. Another Elaphrosaurus joined him. Elaphrosaurus ran out of the woods after a dryosaurus. Elaphrosaurus knew what to do. He careened to the left. Dryosaurus went right, towards a rocky outcropping. The other Elaphrosaurus joined up with Elaphrosaurus. Dryosaurus was trapped Elaphrosaurus leapt at dryosaurus. He brought it down. Elaphrosaurus stood up over his kill. He and the other Elaphrosaurus managed to eat a decent portion before an allosaurus came to take the kill. Elaphrosaurus and the other Elaphrosaurus hissed and spat at allosaurus. But allosaurus just walked up and stole the carcass.

Later that night, Elaphrosaurus was by himself again. Lying down he hacked. A pine needle had gotten in his throat. A sudden downpour made a nice noise in the forest. Elaphrosaurus managed to hack up the pestering spine. Then he went to sleep.
