What is the biggest carnivorous dinosaur?
by: Jonathan I., Grade: 6+

The truth is we dont know. There are many contenders though Giganotosaurus from south america is the heaviest at 7-8 tons and 14.5 metres long. The next condender is Charcharodontosaurus at 14 metres long and with a head 1.8 metres long!. Coming in third in a tie is Tyrannosaurus Rex and Spinosaurus. T-Rex was the heavier of the two but Spinosaurus was much longer at 15 metres. In fourth place is Tarbosaurus Bataar which was between 10-14 metres long and may of been in the same genus as Tyrannosaurus due to a very similar skull making it Tyrannosaurus Bataar. There is also an as yet unamed dinosaur that seems to be stronger than T-Rex as long as Spinosaurus, even Heavier than Giganotosaurus. This has been found in a group as well which may show packing behaviour in large Carnosaurs (large carnivorous Dinosaurs) see my next entry for Dinosaur write Packing Behavior In Carnosaurs Truth Or Fiction?.
