Legend of the Stegosaurus
by: Elisabeth P., Grade: 5

As a little girl my grandfather told us everything he knew about dinosaurs. One night I asked my grandfather about the Stegosaurus. He told me they were great big plant-eaters that ate only greens and berries. He also told me that they had very small brains, the size of a peanut. They also had a unique defense mechanism.
The next night my grandfather told me the legend of the Stegosaurus. Millions of years ago a Stegosaurus was just a plain, ordinary dinosaur. He was so peaceful. One day he had eaten a rare, big, juicey leaf that gives dinosaurs a defense mechanism. The next day he had spikes on his tail. He was so glad he ate the plant again. The next day he had plates on his back. That same day, a Tyrannosaurus Rex attacked the Stegosaurus but he whipped his tail and beat the T-Rex. And that my child, is the legend of the Stegosaurus.
