My Interview With A T-rex
by: Bailey M., Grade: 3

Bailey: When did you live on the earth?
Mr. T-rex: I lived in the Cretaceous Period about 68 to 65 million years ago. I lived in North America mostly.

Bailey: How big are you?
Mr. T-rex: I am about 43 ft in length, up to 13 ft tall at the hips, and up to 6.8 metric tons in weight. Although I am big I am not the biggest of the theropods but am the biggest of the tyrannosaurid and one of the largest land predators.

Bailey: What did your body look like?
Mr. T-rex: My neck forms an S-shaped curve but it is short and muscular to support my huge head. My forelimbs are long with only two digits and my hind limbs are among the longest of any theropod. My tail is heavy and long, sometimes containing over forty vertebrae, in order to balance my huge head and torso. To compensate for how big I am many of my bones are hollow, reducing my weight without losing my strength.
Bailey: How fast can you run?
Mr. T-rex: I can run between 11 and 25 miles per hour.
Bailey: What do you like to eat?
Mr. T-rex: I like to eat meat.

Bailey: What do you like to do?
Mr. T-rex: I like to eat hurt dinosaurs.

Bailey: How do find dinosaurs to eat?
Mr. T-rex: I can smell them. I have a highly developed sense of smell because I have large olfactory bulbs and large olfactory nerves.

Bailey: What kind of dinosaurs do you like to eat?
Mr. T-rex: I like to eat all dinosaurs and some animals too.

Bailey: What do you like best about your teeth?
Mr. T-rex: My teeth can crush bones so that I get more out of my meals.

Bailey: When do you sleep?
Mr. T-rex: I sleep in my spare time and when Iím not hungry anymore.

Bailey: How long do you sleep?
Mr. T-rex: I sleep for as long as I like or until Iím hungry again.

Fun Fact: Although there are numerous skeletons in the world, only one track has been documented ó at Philmont Scout Ranch in northeast New Mexico. It was discovered in 1983 and identified and documented in 1994.
