Each penguin stands only 20 inches high and weighs between five and six pounds. They’re the smallest penguins to live in a warm habitat. They eat small fish like mullet and sardines as well as crustaceans.

During the day they forage for food in the ocean and at night they sleep on land. Their natural predators include the Galápagos shark and the Galápagos hawk. Snakes, rats, and Sally Lightfoot Crabs eat penguin chicks and eggs.
