EarthwatchEndangered Ecosystems HomeScholastic Explorers

Carlos López González, Ph.D., Scientist

I am Carlos López González. I am a biologist at the Instituto de Ecologia (Ecology Institute) in Veracruz, Mexico. I have been studying wild cats and other predators in the Mexican tropical dry forest since 1992. Wild cats are the top predators in this threatened ecosystem, and if you protect them, you are conserving the rest of the community and its diversity of plants, birds, insects, lizards, and other small animals.

Carlos López González joined us for a live interview in May 1999. Click here to read a transcript of that interview.

Now you have met the explorers, you can be an explorer yourself.
