  Vintage Cisneros by Sandra Cisneros

Review by: Mariela C.
Virginia, Grade 10

Vintage Cisneros, a fictional novel by Sandra Cisneros, as Hispanic Latino woman from Chicago. This fiction novel that once started as memories of a younger Cisneros. Cisneros always had her own conflicts, one of her primary conflicts was her insecurity as a child , yet she grew up to be a strong young lady who once said “The heart can be broken, and can rise and soar like a bird.” In her novel she wrote about her family and how living with them interfered with her ways of living and of who she is now.

This 195 page novel is packed with some of Cisneros poetry, which is very touching and great for those who enjoy poetry. The other consideration on her poetry and stories written caused a lot of thoughts and feelings to become a comparison to ones personal life experiences, for example on page 40 a line that really stood out to me was “What they don’t understand about birthdays and what they never tell you is that when you are eleven , you are also you’re also 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1.” This fiction novel was a great read for me. For the reasons that I could relate to Cisneros self experiences with her school life and family, and I would give the story it’s 5 stars.
