City of Thieves: A Novel by David Benioff

Review by: Ben Z.
Minnesota, Grade 7

The entire book takes place during the WWII era, and the author does a fantastic job at making the novel historically accurate. He incorporates historical places, characters, and events into the book, each affecting the plot in a different way. Another I the resting thing in the book was that the author never ''stalled'' in the book. There was never a scene or event that took up a lot of pages and causes the reader to get bored. The author was always introducing fresh characters, events, and locations, so the reader never gets bored.

I loved the book because the plot was very ''twisting''. The book was full of action and the plot was always changing. The author did a great job at making sure that every event conflicted and changed the plot. One thing I didn't like about the novel is that there are many inappropriate swear words and inappropriate scenes in the book. It does add to the depth of the book and its dialogue, but it repels younger readers. I thought the book was great and I would easily recommend it to a reader at a mature level.
