  Divergent by Veronica Roth

Review by: Campbell H.
Mississippi, Grade 6

In the novel Divergent by Veronica Roth, choices can completely define who you are and will be. Beatrice Prior, a 16 year old in the Faction of Abnegation, is now old enough for the Choosing Ceremony. When she chooses the Faction Dauntless, she thinks she has finally found her place in life. But when Beatrice's family and old Faction are at stake, the reader will find out what she will go through to save them. The main characters Beatrice and Four build up anxiousness throughout the book. Beatrice learns how to fight from her 'handsome' instructor, Four. When they begin their relationship, everything was going out fine. Until people found out that Beatrice is Divergent. Then both of their worlds came crashing down. ''Being Divergent is very dangerous. You cant tell anyone!'' said a simulation leader to Beatrice. ''You could die!''. Both of the characters have to fight for a Faction, a family, and each other.

This book clearly describes emotions both felt by Beatrice and Four. I got lost in the book, and i felt like I was there with them. If you love action books like The Hunger Games, you will definitely love this book. So....... will Beatrice choose to be Dauntless or to show her Divergence? You will have to read to find out.
