Alcatraz: Prison for America's Most Wanted by C.J. Henderson

Review by: Joey B.
Ohio, Grade 7

Alcatraz was one of the biggest prisons where no one has tried to escape and made it out alive. Alcatraz was built in San Francisco, CA during the early 1900's. They needed a ''super-prison'' to house ''super-criminals''. This book talks about how these criminals ended up in Alcatraz and how some tried to escape. It was built on an island surrounded by the San Franciso Bay. These were shark infested waters and freezing! At least that's what the guards told the prisoners. One guy made it to the different side of the rock but they found him.

I liked this book because it is about the past and I like learning about old stuff. Also, it is written like a mystery. So if you like mystery books, you will love Alcatraz!
