“My thoughts are stars I can’t fathom into constellations” . The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a touching story about two cancer survivors who meet and slowly fall in love. This story takes place in the modern state of Indiana, where Hazel Grace Lancaster, a lung cancer survivor, lives. At 16, Hazel just wants a life like any other teenager, one with friends and socializing, but her life is rather boring, that all changes when she meets the gorgeous Augustus Waters.
This story was definitely a twist from your average love story. Although this novel did not live up to my high expectations, I could still say that it was fascinating. The characters, the setting, and the realistic storyline interested me in many ways. I think all the hype ruined it for me, it was honestly really good but I don’t think it changed my life like people said it would. I looked at some things differently after reading this, and although it is fictional, I got a better understanding of cancer and the patients that live with it. I will encourage my friends to read this, but only if they read these kinds of books.
