Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer by Megan McDonald

Review by: Alexis W.
North Carolina, Grade 2

Do you like a book where every page has something to make you want to read it even more? Well, then you should read Judy Moody. It's mainly about Judy trying to have the best summer ever. There are great chapters with action, adventure, and mystery. Better yet, see the movie and see if it is the same or different from the book. The book is realistic fiction because it could actually happen.

There are a few different settings like in the amusement park, at the movie theater, and Judy's backyard. ''Do you think she can handle the cave?'' There are other settings too, like in the Scream Monster.

The story is very adventurous because Aunt Opal and Judy drive Zeke's motorcycle. Another adventure is when Judy and Stink try to catch Big Foot in their yard.

The story is funny because Aunt Opal doesn't know what a trash can lid is and Judy and Opal decorate trash can lids to put on the lions.

I recommend this book for kids of any age who love action, adventure, and mystery all in the same book. You really should read Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.
