Harris and Me: A Summer Remembered by Gary Paulsen

Review by: Nethaniel W.
Ohio, Grade 7

I read the book Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen. The setting of the story takes place on a farm probably in the 1940’s. A young boy (Me) from the city, spends the summer on a farm with his aunt and uncle. ‘’Me’’ has been to other places, but he’s never been on a farm before.
The main characters are Harris and ‘’Me’’. Harris, whose two front teeth are missing, always wore bib overalls. He had no shirt, and no shoes. ‘’Me’’ came from the city and had to leave his parents. Harris and ‘’Me’’ always got into trouble. I can’t imagine these people in real life because of the crazy stuff they do in some chapters. The boys do things like mess with a fence, chase animals, and hunt with their (cat).

I would recommend this book to others because it has that crazy, fun, active, and adventurous feeling to it. If you also like a book with a little language in it, I would definitely recommend this book to you, so go on and enjoy a good book!
