The Dogs of Winter by Bobbie Pyron

Review by: Julia N.
Ohio, Grade 7

I think the one interesting thing about the book is that you can ''see'' what the dogs are thinking and it takes you inside the world of dogs like how they really are, how they think, what they do, how agrressive they are, how lovable they are and what they would do to protect each other. The dogs in the book save ivan and ''adopt'' him as their own.

One reason i liked the book is that it takes you inside the world of dogs, the book sets off lots of emotion, and the final reason I liked this book is that the dogs and Ivan go out of their way to protect one another and they save each other multiple times. One reason that I didnt like the book is that Ivan gets separated from the dogs(really sad) and that his mom didnt care for him any more and that there was thousands of homeless people (escpecialy kids). But my opinion is that the book is realy sad, cool, emotional, happy, exited and that ''what the'' kind of feeling. the first time i read this book i didnt get all of the dogs' names, sooooo, the names are grandmother, rip, smoke, lucky, little mother,(in the end) moon and smoke. then of course Ivan the humin with them.
