Grade 6 Reviews The Actual and Truthful Adventures of Becky Thatcherby Jessica Lawson
Review by: Bella S.
New York, Grade 6
The Actual and Truthful Adventures of Becky Thatcher is a work of realistic fiction. Becky, who is also the main character, is an 11 year old girl living near the Mississippi and gets into acceptable trouble. She has a best friend who goes on her adventures with her.My favorite character is Becky Thatcher. She is a tomboy and likes to have adventures. Her brother died from being sick and he gave her his marbles and made her promise to take them on adventures. Becky steals from a witch and catches thieves. She meets an author who puts her brother into a book without saying his name so that he could have even more adventures!
I liked this book because I think I can relate to Becky in many ways. I would like to do many things she did. I am also the same age she is. Even though the story takes place in the past, Becky still goes to school but in a one room classroom. I think it is interesting to read about the past and find out about kids my age.
