Canterwood Crest Book #1 by Jessica Burkhart

Review by: Megan W.
California, Grade 6

The themes of Canterwood Crest book #1 is about horses, friends and new places. I love the book and it’s very descriptive so you can imagine the setting very well like the Sweet Shop, where Sasha and Paige go after they finish their classes or if they want to celebrate getting a good score on a test.

The main character is Sasha Silver, who is 14 years old, she has a positive attitude about most things, and she’s very passionate about riding horses.

As soon as Sasha Silver unloads her horse at Canterwood Crest, Charm bolts, making Heather Fox’s horse, Aristocrat, throw her off, which wasn’t the best first impression.

The conflict that continues throughout the story is that Sasha keeps getting tricked by the Trio. The Trio is Alison Rob, Julia Meyers, and Heather Fox. They trick Sasha while she is trying to get on the advanced Canterwood riding team.

You’ll have to read this book to find out the end result. Did she make the team or did the Trio destroy her chances?

My favorite part of the story is when Sasha and Paige meet because they have common interests on movie stars, food and fashion. It kept my interest because I like reading about friendships and horses.

The part that made me laugh is when Sasha first sees Jacob Swartz and she squealed.

Canterwood Crest book #1 is a fiction chapter book about friendships and horses, there are no illustrations, but the author keeps your interest with descriptive words.

I loved the book because of the topics such as horses and friends. Also, the story is very descriptive, so you can imagine the setting and characters. I felt like I was there with Sasha because of all the descriptive writing.

I think most girls or people who love horses would enjoy reading this book.

I liked this book because I enjoy reading about horses and friendships
