  Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan

Review by: Emma S.
North Dakota, Grade 6

Once long ago , three young sisters were fatefully adopted by the witch of the forest , their names were Eins , Drei , and Zwei . And they had just found the messenger who would free them from their cursed life in the forest . His name was Otto , Otto Messenger.

Then the messenger receives a magical harmonica from the sisters that will break their curse. Decades later Friedrich in Germany , Mike in Pennsylvania , and Ivy in California , become interwoven with the harmonica. And they each face daunting problems , like rescuing a father , protecting a brother , and holing a family together . But all of them face the same problem finding who they really are .

I loved this book , because of all the characters from very different settings and eras in time . For example Friedrich's story takes place in Germany during the Holocaust , and Ivy's story takes place in California during a time of racism , and Pearl Harbor .

I highly recommend this book in many ways , one of them is because I learned a lot from this book like standing up for what is right and never giving up on yourself . These are my reasons why you should definitely read the book Echo .

I liked this book because It taught me how to be a better person . And to always be thankful for what you have .
