Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Review by: Claire S.
Other, Grade 10

Gabriel Garcia Marquez portrays a scene where the two main characters engage in their earliest stages of love as teenagers. This particular section of the novel engages readers (including me) because of the portrayal of pure innocence of young love between the two main characters, Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza. I personally enjoyed this section because of its realisticness compared to the other sections of the novel.

Not only have I enjoyed the section mentioned above, I enjoyed the novel as a whole because the author employs the theme that one true love cannot be replaced by any other type of love by using strong imagery. I would give this book a 7 out of 10 because I agree with the author's theme and I liked the vivid language usage of Marquez in the novel.
