Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson

Review by: Ben A.
Illinois, Grade 7

The book Fever 1793 is set in Philadelphia in 1793. This time period was before there were proper, effective medical treatments. So, just a small outbreak of disease could end up sweeping the streets and killing thousands. The main character Mattie is forced to find a way to survive in her world turned upside down, and must escape the city. Readerís will be on the edge of their seats reading this breathtaking novel.

I really liked this book because it vividly describes the image of the panicked city infected with Yellow Fever. The author does a good job at putting the reader into the main characterís shoes.
