I think that one interesting thing about The Giver is that they are all color blind. And when Jonas finally sees color, he is amazed at how it looks. At first he was not even really sure what it was. It's really interesting how we see color every day. But what if we never saw color? Everything would be really boring.
I liked this book because of all of the adventure and mystery, although I didn't like how people were released, especially the babies. I could barely put this book down while reading it in school, so I checked it out from my teacher to read it at home. It was intense with every page I read, from the ceremony of twelve to when Jonas runs away with Gabriel. I plan on reading Gathering Blue and The Messenger.
