Billy and Blaze, written and illustrated by C. W. Anderson, is a great bedtime story for young children and beginning readers. It has short, simple sentences and large pictures on almost every page. The story begins on Billy's birthday when his father tells him he will find his present on the front lawn. His present is a beautiful horse that Billy decides to call Blaze. Billy loves horses and has always wanted one of his very own, so when he finds Blaze on the lawn, he is very excited. The rest of the story is all about the adventures of Billy and Blaze during their first days together.
I remember having this book read to me when I was little and enjoying it very much. I liked it because I loved stories about horses, I enjoyed the ink sketches on the pages, and I loved action stories where you didn't know what was going to happen next. I also enjoyed reading the other stories that were written about Billy and Blaze, so go check them out as well.
