Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Old School by Jeff Kinney

Review by: Rylee R.
Florida, Grade 7

One thing I love about this book is how funny it is. The humor of the book is self parody of what we do in real life such as making jokes about bad jobs and cheap summer camps. A joke is usually on every page a the performance of each joke is delivered well. The way the author tells these jokes make them even more funny and dialogue between characters a little more goofy. In conclusion, The writing of the humor makes the book have more character and is a good parody of life.

This book has a lot of things it did right. One thing it well are the characters, they express themselves well and mostly MAKE the humor. I personally feel that the realism is well done, the book makes you feel that greg is a real kid going through his life. The ending is surprising, I won't spoil it the way they pulled off the shock value is well done. If there is one thing I dislike is the pacing, I goes a little too fast at times. I personally like this book and I recommend it for the humor.
