  Monster by Walter Dean Myers

Review by: Morgan F.
Ohio, Grade 10

In the book Monster readers will get anticipation and suspension when reading this Walter Dean Myers book. A 16 year old is on trial for murder and this could ruin his life forever. In Harlem, New York he is a big suspect in the murder and robbery. We go to each trial and get every aspect of the trial and Steve’s pain in jail day by day. The trials were detailed and gives information that helped me understand the plot more. The thing I disliked the most it changed scenes and scenario too quick and too many times. The author uses the setting in the story and how the characters personalities and how the community is. The characters relate to how they act because of the community and setting. Teenagers will enjoy this story and teach them how to stay out of trouble and the harsh troubles of life in jail. At early teen age it will show them what life is like as they get older being a teen. This novel is highly recommended for all teenagers.
