Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers

Review by: Mike J.
New Jersey, Grade 7

Recently,I finished the famous book Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers . Walter who passed away in 2014, Used to live in harlem, and his famous book fallen angels won the Coretta scott king award.

The story is about a seventeen year-old high school graduate Richie perry who signs up for the army and getís shipped off to the Vietnam war in around 1954, there he meets other soldiers and GIís such as pee wee,Lobel,Johnson, and brunner, there he witnesses massive killing and intense action.

While writing this book, walter was trying to help us understand that ďthe race of soldiers do not matter, it matters most about their youth and innocenceĒ and this book is also a tribute to his brother that died in the vietnam war.

I think this book was a very good one, I liked the book because I am interested in books that are about war and facts about the military,If the NBA doesn't work out for me, I might join the military.

I would recommend this book to kids that are interested in war novels, that are 12-14 years old, this book contains graphic content and itís only for grown ups, and for kids that are mature enough to read.
