  Grade 10 Reviews
  Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Review by: Kiersten B.
North Carolina, Grade 10

I found that the most interesting thing about this book, Red Queen, is that it always keeps you on your toes. A lot of the time, I never knew what was going to happen next. There was never a dull moment. I also liked how Victoria Aveyard was able to introduce and develop the characters, especially Mare Barrow. In the beginning of the book, she starts off as a red-blooded thief trying to help support her family and prepare herself for the worst. She becomes much more throughout the book and her opinions about certain silvers, whose fellow people thought their blood made them stronger and more superior than the reds, was ever changing.

I liked this book very much. So much so that once I finished the first book, I wanted to keep reading to find out what might happen. I am not an avid reader, but this book kept me interested. I liked the romance that was incorporated as Mare had to be rushed into a lifestyle that she did not know much about. The two boys who helped her also made her fall in love with both of them in different ways. If I am able to continue the series, I would take that opportunity to see if the second book is just as good as the Red Queen.
