Goosebumps SlappyWorld #1: Slappy Birthday to You by R.L. Stine

Review by: Mahima V.
Other, Grade 7

Though fictitious the book almost paints a realistic picture as it takes you down memory lane. The cantankerous kids through their quarrels and tiffs keep the narration lively and help you to recall with a measure of nostalgia your own childish prattles and siblings rivalry as you become one with the characters. This is what makes the book rather interesting

The story started off on a very lively note with the cantankerous kids quarreling over a piece of pancake. It is beautifully narrated and puts you on a nostalgia mode as it mirrors your own childish prattles and sibling rivalry. The story tries to recreate the magic of birthday celebration and as our curiosity gains crescendo it comes to an abrupt halt thus diluting the effect and making it almost gauche
