Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway by Jeff Kinney

Review by: WM W.
Virginia, Grade 7

In The Getaway, book 12 in Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, the Heffleys plan a surprise vacation to the parents’ honeymoon destination, Isla de Corales. Little do they know the resort has changed.
To start, the resort is split into two sections: The Wild Side, and The Mild Side. Because kids weren’t allowed to stay on The Wild Side, they had to stay on The Mild Side. The Mild Side is where families stayed, and the activities were mainly for kids. When the parents came for their honeymoon years before, the resort wasn’t divided, and they would have stayed on The Wild Side anyway. Now it was going to be different with three kids along with them. The vacation started with a delayed flight. By the time it was over, everybody wished they hadn’t come. Why? Find out in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway, by Jeff Kinney.
