The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by Bryan Mealer and William Kamkwamba

Review by: Madison M.
Illinois, Grade 7

The book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by Bryan Mealer and William Kamkwamba told the story of the boy William who created electric wind. The book made me feel as if I had lived in Africa my entire life and was going through the struggles with them. It was a book that kept me on the edge of my seat trying to see the creative items he would put on his windmill.

I enjoyed looking at the images of the work. I felt as I was standing next to him while he was building. The book stated many scientific terms. The book helped me understand all the science that was going on.I felt like a real scientist always wanting to know what was coming next. I liked how they explained some African terms to make me feel like I belong there. Throughout the book I learned many new vocabulary words and grown used to the strange words I hadn't heard till I read this book. All in all the book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind was an inspiring nonficton novel.
