My Point...And I Do Have One by Ellen DeGeneres

Review by: Amanda N.
Michigan, Grade 10

Ellen DeGeneres was born in Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans. She was raised as a Christian Scientist until the age of 13. In 1982 she won the title “Funniest Person in America”. The book that I read, My Point…And I Do Have One, was the first book she wrote. This book spent more than six months on the New York Times bestseller list.
“If your palms are burning, you will be coming into some money soon, and if your palms are ringing you are crazy. If you hit your funny bone, you will hear a joke within twenty-four hours, and if you hit your head, you will cry. If a spider is in your pants, you will hop around and scream.” These were a few crazy superstitions from one of my favorite chapters, “Crazy Superstitions That Really Work!”
Another one of my favorite chapters is “Things to Do If You’re Stuck in an Elevator to Help You Pass the Time”. Some of the things Ellen said to do are: count your arm hairs, prepare your grocery lists for the year, think of your family-the ones you don’t hate- and all of the fun times you’ve had, or scream.
This book is about many different things Ellen has done and many things she enjoys. Something’s that she talked about were her love for dancing and eating French toast. Also she talked bout how she entered a dog race and how she used small, weak dogs to pill her and her sled.
This was one of the funniest books I have ever read. It kept me laughing the whole time that I was reading it. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to laugh. I really enjoyed reading this book and I think you would too!

I liked this book because it was very funny and interesting.
