The Clique #7: It's Not Easy Being Mean by Lisi Harrison

Review by: Mallory M.
Ohio, Grade 7

You might think being mean is easy, but not for these four girls in its not easy being mean by Lisi Harrison, makes it look difficult. First there is Massie she is obsessing over this key that is under one of the briarwood boy’s bed and is losing her boyfriend, Derrington because of it. Next there is Kristen she loves playing soccer but soon starts to lose that love when her friends are forced to join the team. Then there is Alicia she using the gossip she hears to find out which boy has the key. Another is Dylan she trying her hardest to loss her extra fat that hangs on her body but is finding out it’s a lot harder then it looks. Finally there is Claire she is so close to getting kick out of the pretty committee and trying to decide if she should continue her acting career and move away from all her friends and the boy she loves, Cam.

Lisi Harrison is known for the clique book series. In the themes of her books it’s trying to say best friends forever even in the hard times, but in this book she has a new theme about never leaving your friends behind and staying together. Every book in the clique series Lisi does an excellent job describing the characters for example “her think buttery blonde waves and Tiffany box blue eyes with the warm flick of a candle...” She also does a wonderful job at coming up with funny comebacks like ““Dylan are you a cat” asked Massie. “No” she chewed. “Then what’s with the litter” said Massie.”

People who enjoy reading about everyday problems teenage girls face at school or at home this is a book for you. I would defiantly recommend this to my friends because I think we act so much like them and they can totally relate to the book. I hope you can handle this book about four glamour girls and one out of town girl.
