Alex Rider #1: Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz

Review by: Evaristo M.
Washington, Grade 10

Stormbreaker is a very good, suspenseful and exciting book. Stormbreaker is a page turner and is my kind of book. This is a page turner because this makes me think about what’s going to happen and I want to find out, so I have to the desire to read more and turn pages. I recommend this book to anyone and is an easy read.

Stormbreaker is about a fourteen-year-old kid named Alex Rider that tries to figure out his uncle’s true cause of death. He was told he died in a car accident, but Alex knew it wasn’t true and because of the bullet holes in his uncle’s windshield of his car that confirm his suspicions. Alex was recruited by M16-Britain’s top secret intelligence agency to find his uncle’s killer.

I didn’t really have a favorite part of the book because the whole book was action packed and suspenseful. If I had to name a favorite part of the book it would be at the end of the book, it was exciting and intense when Alex had to escape, but I never thought, but one of the girl detectives or spies turned on Alex and was planning to capture Alex and kill him. She knocked out Alex and pit him into a huge tank with a giant squid and she said that no one has had escaped, most people haven’t lasted longer than an hour. “They either die from drowning because they get to tired or the giant squid gets them.” Alex lasted about 20 minutes until he thought up of a plan and broke the glass of the tank and got out alive and escaped. Later the bad girl spy was caught and Alex was a hero, but he decided if he was going to do any thing like this again, it would be a long time.

One of the books themes is to be careful about what you do, but still have fun living life. You can still have a lot of fun but be careful to not get too far ahead of yourself.

I liked Stormbreaker and has to be one of the best books that I’ve read because it was suspenseful, exciting, and intense and this was one of my favorite books. I wouldn’t change this book at all because it was a page turner and entertaining to read. I’m not a very strong reader or someone that likes to read books a lot and this book, Stormbreaker grabbed my attention and I wanted to keep on reading it. It’s one of the best books that I’ve read in a long time for me. I would also like to read some more of Anthony Horowitz’s books, the author of Stormbreaker. I would like to read more of his books because Stormbreaker was a great book and I think that all of his other books will be the same or maybe even greater.
