  Grade 10 Reviews
  Played by Dana Davidson

Review by: Stevie Jo B.
Minnesota, Grade 10

Even though I am a first time reader of Dana Davidson I recommend her work to just about anyone. Her book Played was a true page turner. It brings you into the mind of high school students attending Cross High. All the rumors, deceit and silly games people will play to be part of the “in crowd” are in this coming of age romance.
In this book you will get inside the minds of the two main characters Kylie and Ian which is another thing I enjoyed in her book, you really do get a good look at teens today with an urban voice.
It all starts with an unbelievable dare so Ian can become part of the FBI, the most popular and so to say best of the best of Cross High. As Ian tries to succeed or “play her” he hurts the one girl in his life that he actually cared for and maybe loves.
Kylie is just you’re average good girl trying to keep up her grades and her home life. So why all of sudden is Ian one of the cutes guys in school asking her out all the time?
Hesitant at first Kylie goes along with it eager to see what is going to happen and enjoying feeling like a teenager at last. But when it comes to choosing between her heart and her head things get a little disastrous.
“Oh Kylie!” Dez says unable to keep the exasperation out of her voice, “Just promise me to hold back a little something, okay?”
“All right. I’ll try. But isn’t he fine?”
“Yes he is defiantly that.” Tracy giggled.
“Yeah, but remember,” said Dez, in a voice thick with foreboding “Satan was the most beautiful angel in all of heaven, and we all know how that turned out.”

So if you want to find out how the story turns out make sure to read Play. You won’t be disappointed; it will have you completely absorbed start to finish.
