Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits by David Ortiz and Tony Massarotti

Review by: Zachary D.
Connecticut, Grade 7

Big Papi by David Ortiz and Tony Massarotti is a book about David Ortizís journey to be one of the best home run hitters in the world. David Ortiz is a humble and fun loving person. Manny Ramirez is a good friend of Big Papi. They are important to the team because they are the big hitters. The story takes place in the Dominican Republic, Boston and Minnesota from 2004 to the present. The story is about Big Papi and how he got into the major leagues. First, he started off playing in a summer league in the Marlins camp, but then he got sent home because his arm started to hurt. He was about to quit baseball forever, but then his dad talked him out of it. The next day he went back and practiced some more so he could get better.

I thought that Big Papi was a very good book and I recommend it to anyone who likes baseball. This book is something baseball fanatics would enjoy because itís all about baseball and you can learn important facts. People who like the Red Sox and want them to keep winning would like this book Big Papi is a book about the Red Sox, David Ortizís child hood, and how he got into the major leagues. I liked the fact that Big Papi is a very considerate and fun-loving person. For example, he gives money to charity. He also makes people laugh in the dugout by being a cheerful guy. Big Papi plays jokes on his teammates and they get him back. He swears a lot, so people who donít like swears shouldnít read this book, or they should censor it for their children. In conclusion, Big Papi is a very good book to read and Iíd recommend it to everybody that likes baseball and who likes the Red Sox.
