Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko

Review by: Sean W.
Pennsylvania, Grade 6

The book is about boy named moose. He has to go to Alcatraz because of his dad’s job. He has a sister named Natalie who’s “special.” His family lives in Alcatraz in an apartment. He has to control Natalie, because some times she throws temper tantrums. There is a girl there named Piper. Who seems like she wants quick cash all the time.

Moose likes to play baseball. They got to play every Monday. Then one day they had to switch it to Tuesday, but then his mom told him she meant Monday. So then he still couldn’t play. Natalie has to go to a special school that helps “special” kids.

She has trouble getting in the school. Moose makes some friends.

. I think the book is ok. Most of the book was kinda boring. The part when they decided to bring in Al Capone’s mom. That was just really weird and pointless. It can do A LOT BETTER. Most of the book was boring.
2 outta 5 stars.
