  Boy Proof by Cecil Castellucci

Review by: Zoe M.
Washington, Grade 10

Boy Proof, is a very interesting book. Victoria, known as Egg, is a very shy girl. She tends to keep to herself and her own thoughts. While trying to become valedictorian, she meets this boy, Max Carter. As much as she wants to just keep out of the drama of trying to like someone, she can't help but be curious about him. It interests me at how easily we can become distracted by the opposite sex. No matter how hard you try to not notice, and not let them distract you from what you should be doing, they seem to pull you farther and farther away the harder you try. It's sad, how Victoria almost had valedictorian, but because of the distraction she becomes too stressed to do any of her work, and loses her spot.

I really liked this book, it shows the realistic side of highschool years. It shows how much you actually try and impress people and not even realize it. I related to Egg in many different ways, she is just like a normal teenage girl, trying to get through highschool, without any drama. Which i'm sure everybody who has been to high school knows exactly how hard it is not to get caught up in drama at one point in your high school career. I also liked how it showed that she didn't have the greatest relationship with her family. Many teenagers don't have great relationships with their families anymore, even a good relationship at that. This book was very real, and made you think about relationships quite a bit. Overall, i really enjoyed this book.
