  Undone by Brooke Taylor

Review by: Rachel K.
New York, Grade 10

The characters are relatable and likable.

The novel, Undone by Brooke Taylor, is high on my suggested reads list, for many reasons. One of which is that the characters are really easy to relate to. Another is that it is based in our time period. And lastly, the book was really easy to read. The words weren’t very troubling and it kept you interested until the end.

Serena is an everyday, ordinary teenager. She is in high school, and she faces normal problems and has an uneasy relationship with her single mother. She’s relatable to probably a lot of other teenage girls her age. That’s a really good quality to find in a book. The plot of the story also makes this novel a good read. It is based in this time period, so there are similarities in the way people talk and dress and interact. Just about every aspect of this novel is relatable and that is what, in my opinion, makes it a really great piece of literature.

From beginning to end, Undone keeps you interested and guessing. From one page to the next, your mind is changing on what you think is going on, and you never know what is going to happen next. The end is an unexpected twist that you’d never see coming. The entire book is a classic story about teenage angst and heartbreak. It’s a great novel that every teenager should read.
