Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko

Review by: Shipra P.

One thing I thought was interesting was why Mathew Flanagan did not send the note to 105, instead he send it to Al Capone.

This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I like the book, Al Capone Does My Shirts because it is a fiction book that also relates to the past, which is really interesting to me. The book brings us back to when Al Capone, the biggest criminal, was alive and tells the geography of the island where he was sent, Alcatraz. I think Gennifer Choldenko did a great job writing this book. She wrote a lot of details in the book and put all her information and ideas nicely. When you start the book it is kind of boring, but it gets better. Like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer of Stone. Al Capone Does My Shirts got a New York Bestseller award and a Newberry Honor award.
Al Capone Does My Shirts does not necessarily have an age limit. It is for everyone who can read and understand a book. Gennifer created the characters in a great way. They are all funny and clever; one of them has lots of ideas, but her ideas might get kids in trouble. I agree with the characters behavior. You could see the characters acting in your mind. They are so blown up it's great. This book is also a good book to write about, you could add so much. I would love to recommend this book to kids; it's a great read.
