A GIRL NAMED DISASTER by Nancy Farmer

Review by: DANIELLE M.
District of Columbia, Grade 7

The survivalist of the story,Nhamo, lives in a village away from civilization. She lived there all her life with her aunt and grandmother which Nhamo feels are always illusing her by making her cook, clean, and feed the other children without worrying about her.Nhamo always went to bed every night wondering what the outside is like.Until one day she decided to go on an extrodinary and adventerous journey to zimbawe, byt this time while going she had on plan in mind:FINDING HER FATHER.

I think this journey will leave you feeling confused because I did not understand the plot og the story. But I think it will also leave you feeling illfated for her because of all the obstacle she has to go through.Personaly I loved the whole book but my favorite part was when she askedp:''I wonder what the outside is like, what my father is like?Does he look for me?Does he love me?I wonder what my life would be like if I had a real family?{NANCY FARMER,A GIRL NAMED DISASTER page 249-250}''.This is my favorite part of the book because after I read it,it got me wondering all the things that could have happened with my dad. While I was reading this book I felt this was a very tragic story of a lost gir trying to gind her father, and I felt realy emotinal because of what's in store her.I would recommend this book to anybody that likes tragic and emotional stories.
