Charlie Wilcox's Great War by Sharon E. Mackay

Review by: Tala E.
Ontario, Grade 8

This book was full of adventures but there was one particular that sticks out the most when I think about this book. itís the part when Charlie and Weston, landing behind enemy lines (Germans). Charlie not knowing what or how to reach his safe side before he would get caught. Besides trying to get to their side , many uncountable things happen to delay their journey.

The adventures of Charlie is the only reason I kept reading this book. I loved how Sharon emphasises the adventures, and she made me feel or describe every image of an adventure (ex: when Charlie and Weston landed on No-Mans land, I imagined myself being surrounded by dead bodies or seeing the bombs above me, flying furiously towards the enemies). Though the one thing I disliked about this book, is how the author doesn't specify the speaker ex:
( Jump!!)
( I cant!!)
In order to identify the speaker, you would have to reread the paragraph.
