A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck

Review by: Zoie H.
Michigan, Grade 6

When Grandma Dowdel mows down Old Man Nyquist's pecan tree to get pecans for her pies.

I read the book A Year Down Yonder. This book was sour but sweet at the same time. There are so many fun adventures that Mary Alice and Grandma Dowdel had together.
I would recommend this book to anyone. There are many funny parts in the book. The only thing is if boys donít like books with main characters that are girls. This book also has parts when you have no idea what Grandma is doing and it sometimes scares you. The whole time Mary Alice wishes she could go home. The ending of this book was my favorite! It seems that it wraps up all the loose ends.
This book would be great for people that donít like it when the author leaves you hanging.
