A Season of Gifts by Richard Peck

Review by: Jackie V.
Michigan, Grade 6

One interesting thing is you get to see a hole new side of the town throw the eyes of a boy.

A Season of Gifts is the third book of A Long way from Chicago and A Year Down Yonder. It’s a little different from the rest of the books because it’s not a focused on grandma as the others. It’s mostly about this new family that moves in right next to grandma’s house. Bobby Barnhart ,the main character, and his little sister,
Ruth Ann have some pretty weird adventures.
It mainly takes place in winter but Bobby’s family stays for a year. There is an unexpected marriage, and Joe’s son comes to town. There is a bad boy that gets involved with Phyllis, Bobby’s older sister, and you don’t want to miss that story!
I also liked this book because it showed a hole new side of grandma. I recommend this book to any one who liked A Long Way From Chicago. I think it’s for boys and girls.
