A Candidate for Murder by Joan Nixon Lowry

Review by: Darcy G.
Pennsylvania, Grade 7

Exciting, suspenseful, mysterious, and fast paced are just a few words to describe the novel A Candidate for Murder by Joan Lowry Nixon. It takes place in Texas where the protagonist Caryís dad is running for governor. She then over hears people talking and thinks its just about politics, but when a friend yells her name and the guys starts coming after her she thinks it may be more. After that her boyfriend starts acting weird and distant, and she thinks that her butler is someone else. So Cary turns to the one person she thinks she can trust her reporter friend Sally Jo for help. What Sally Jo uncovers is that Cary overheard something way more important then political talk. Then at the banquet dinner for her dad Sally Jo and Cary figure out exactly what they heard, but someone else was near by. The end of this story made me love the book even more.

If you have ever read one of her books you know that once you start you canít put it down.
