  Primavera by Mary Jane Beaufrand

Review by: Cecilia V.
Virginia, Grade 10

Living with the Pazzi family, one of the wealthiest families in Florence, is a life filled with jealousy and rivalry. For Flora, an unwanted child, life is complicated. Her sister gets all the attention and is having an arranged marriage, Mother despises her and obviously loves her sister more, and Father is too busy trying to get rich. Only person she has in her life is Nonna, her grandmother, until a young man, Emilio, a soldier to her father, comes into her life. Their love goes against the life she was born into.
The Pazzi family has an ongoing rivalry with the Medici family, the wealthiest family in Florence. As a plan to defeat this family, the Pazzi plan a conspiracy: to kill Lorenzo and Giuliano Medici. This event turns Floraís world upside down as everything and everyone she knows disappears.

Primavera, by Mary Jane Beaufrand, is an excellent historical fiction book to read. Itís filled with love, action, and historical events. This is a book you surely wonít want to put down. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves history, especially when set during the Renaissance period, and anyone who loves romance and action. Floraís life may seem like a gift but in reality itís a curse.
