  Breaking Through by Francisco Jimenez

Review by: Benjamin P.
Connecticut, Grade 7

One interesting thing about the book is that it is very inspiring. Francisco's family has a lot of trouble through their life but they get through the trouble together. It is inspiring to see a family that is so close conquer their goals.

Francisco Jimenez (also known as Frankie) is the main character of the book. He comes from a very poor family from Mexico. He has a mother, a father, 2 brothers and a sister. Frankie's family has a hard time getting money, so they have many different jobs. Although, they have many different jobs, His siblings and him still went to school. Francisco was a very hard working person who always wanted to succeed. His main goal was to get through High School with the best grades he was capable of getting and moving on to college so he could become a teacher.

Overall this book was very well written and had a good plot. If I were to rate this book out of 5 stars i would give it a 3.5. It wasn't the absolute best story but was very intriguing. This book was not like any of the other books I have read in a good way. It was very interesting to learn about his life and all of the challenges he has to overcome. I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a good story, but if you are looking for something that is a story with a unexpected surprise then this is not the right story. As I was reading through the book I was only intrigued for so long. I was waiting for that big bang that changes the whole story. It really told me about how hard his life was and how hard it was to live with not that much money.
