  Breaking Through by Francisco Jimenez

Review by: Tim B.
Connecticut, Grade 7

There were many interesting things about this book. There were many different things that were happening. The main thing that I liked about it was that it was a sad novel. That's because the characters were poor, which was very gripping, heartbreak because the characters lost their loved ones because they were Mexican, and it was tragic because there was many sad events happening.

I liked the book because it was gripping. It was very interesting to see how a poor family survives in these times. I also liked it because it was very intense. There were many parts where the family argued and it got very wild.
